State Consultation

Various State Consultations were organised to bring the stakeholders from governmental and non-governmental organizations on a common platform to deliberate on the collective actions that could be taken to combat child marriage. This resulted in a state wise draft action plan and proactive engagement of the stakeholders towards ending child marriage in their respective states.

Stakeholders who took part in the consultations included District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, members of State Legal Services Authorities, State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights, Police Department, Department of Women and Child Development, Child Welfare Committee, District Child Protection Unit, Department of Higher Education, Department of Social Defence, Department of Social Welfare, NGOs, and Survivor Leaders.

NGO Partners' Meet

Ahead of the one year anniversary of the Child Marriage Free India campaign, various NGO Partners’ Meets were organised to discuss strategies to take the campaign forward. The planning meets were organised between 1 September and 10 September in 7 States including Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

Training of Community Social Workers

Over 1700 Community Social Workers (CSWs) of NGOs were trained in 42 sessions conducted across 11 States in India. The training sessions covered various topics related to child marriage. The CSWs were provided with knowledge on laws related to child marriage so they could sensitise the community and create deterrence. Through these sessions, it was made sure that the CSWs establish child marriage as a criminal offence rather than just a social evil in society.
