CMFI’s multidimensional efforts over the last two years have shown results in various quantum, degrees and at every nook and cranny of the country -

  • The campaign surges in action and impact especially around Akshaya Tritiya. Akshaya Tritiya is an annual Hindu festival considered auspicious for marriages and has in the past witnessed thousands of child marriages. However, months after the CMFI launch, in May 2023 National Commission for Protection of Child Rights issued directions to its officials to stay vigilant during Akshaya Tritiya to prevent any child marriages.

  • The Rajasthan High Court issued a landmark order, entrusting the responsibility of preventing child marriages in the state to the Sarpanches and Panches (Village Heads) of the villages. After this order, 8 other states followed suit and passed similar orders in their states.

  • Injunctions had simply been part of the Prevention of Child Marriage Law but it was only after the CMFI campaign this very vital tool became a weapon in fighting this crime.

  • Between 2023 and 2024, over 8000 news items on the issue were published in various media houses across districts, states and in National dailies as well.
